A couple months ago I bought a trailer load of frontends and rearends off this guy.I have one rearend I need some info on.It looks like a 3/4 or 1ton rearend(srw). It has the plug, wire, and sensor for ABS. I got the matching frontend also, or parts of, its independent.I have the tag off of the rearend and am not quite sure how to read it all.
Heres the tag info.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. One more small question, what on that tag designates say the years, ratio, and open or L.S.? This way I can learn to tell what the info on the tag is by myself.
Here's the break down on the Ford tag. I've found that Ford generally follows this setup on the codes, but not always.

I'm not sure what the top 6 digits are, possibly a factory code? The 2 could mean it was manufactured in Canada, but I don't guarantee it.
The 4L10 indicates 4.10 gears with a limited slip. The L in the middle indicates Limited Slip. If it had a space (4 10) it would be a regular open diff. If it were 3.73 gears with a LS, it would read 3L73. I wanted to provide a second example just for safety's sake. The next digits, the 10 2 indicate the 10.25" ring gear axle manufactured by Sterling exclusively for Ford. Later in the 90's they switched to a 10.5" ring gear, and so those diffs have a tag that says 10 5. I don't know for a fact that 7K22 indicates when the diff was manufactured, but on my '89 the last 4 digits start with a 9, and on a '96 10.5" I looked at last summer they started with a 6. I would guess then that the 7K22 indicates an '87 axle. It couldn't be '77 as they weren't made then, and it couldn't be a '97 as by then they'd switched to the 10.5" ring gear.
