I've looked at some other posts and I think I have a Dana 60 rearend and a 44 frontend but I'm posting the codes off the tags in hopes that someone can verify this and maybe even tell me if they are good or bad. Also, how do I know if they are posi or not? Thanx in advance.
oops forgot to post the codes:
rearend:
4 10 D4TA-GCA
603382-9
frontend:
4 09 D3TA-GA
603395-1

Somebody will be along to verify this but I think you need to have the letter 'L' in there to have a limited slip, such as 4L10 and 4L09, rear is 4:10 and front is 4:09, maybe I'm wrong. And HEY!! these are Fords none of that GM Posi talk here, we say Trac-Lock or is that Trac-Loc or Lok
I searched for your axles' bill of materials numbers on Dana's axle ID website, but could not find any info on them, says those numbers don't exist. Going by what axles Ford typically put in thier trucks, if you have a Dana 44 straight axle front and Dana 60 rear, your truck should be a 1970's F250. If the truck is a half ton, it should have a Dana 44 straight axle front and a Ford 9" rear or, if an '80's or later model, a Dana 44 TTB front and a Ford 8.8" rear. With 4.10 ratios, I would think the truck would be a 3/4 ton. What year and kind of truck do you have?
Between searching the forums and checking out other resources, I have verified that I have Dana 44 frontend, 60 rearend, NP205 transfer case and C6 tranny, all the original stuff for the '74 F250 4x4. Now I just need to measure the stroke so I can find out if it has a 390 as the previous owner claims or if it is 360. Thanx for the help.
