I got a 68 f100 and im just kinda curious to what I can do to get more power off the line, not so much top end wise just stop light to stop light power, any feedback would be great
Its a 360 with just a factory two barrel. Everything is stock, I do have plans to put a 650 double pumper on it and put a manifold intake, but im sure the manifold will be a bitch. I would like to spend about 2-6 grand on it. But most of all just have fun with it.
As previously said.. A 5.13 gear ratio will get you going. The motor will take care of the rest. I installed a 4.11 gear in my truck when I had 27x11'' tires. Holy crap was my truck fast off the line. You have a big V8; I think the gear ratio change is what you're looking for.

OK, but review any and all threads in the FE forums about "360 to 390". The 360 is a low compression engine, with the standard mild cam. You can get DOUBLE the power out of it with some mods. For a little less, at least 50% more.
--390 crank and rods, 360 pistons. CR now about 9.5 and you are up 30 cubes.
--cam to taste
--pick a good manifold & carb, again many discussions on the FE forums.
--heads--updating heads can cost almost as much as aftermarket, so you really have to look at and assess the condition of your stockers. Stock valve springs are not great if you are going to make good power.
--headers. It's all for nothing with the stock manifolds.
The "lite" version for the 360 is headers, manifold, 600 cfm 4bbl. A couple guys have found joy with this combo.
The "Extra strength" version is more stroke, to 410 or 445 cubes, fancy internals, aftermarket heads, 1500 rpm idle cams, the usual.
