need key for ignition (bonus built) easily made?

I need a key made for my 52 F6 as well as my 51 F1, can I just take the switch in to a locksmith and have one easily made without spending a fortune??? I tried a search here but gave up on that idea rather quickly

I have seen switches with keys sell on ebay for quite a bit so I dont know if thats a good sign or not?
thanks for any ideas or other options? maybe just a later ford truck switch from a junk yard would work and be real cheap?

Thanks

Josh

I would call locksmiths in your area and find one who is familiar with older car locks. Most locks have a code stamped on them somewhere and a new key can be made off of that. But not all locksmiths are knowledgable about these.

Josh:

Just last month I had keys made for both my '52 F-1 ignition switch and the door lock (not sure why but they were different!). I took it to one of the oldest and reputable locksmiths here in Mobile and they filed me a new key for each within a couple of days. Total charge was $25 each. I thought that was not a bad deal ...!

You can also take in the ignition switch, door lock (s) and glove box lock (if you have one), and they can re key the locks so they all use the same key. It's a fairly simple process for a good locksmith. If they don't have keys, you can buy them on E-bay. Some of the repro keys are really cool!

Josh , a decent lock smith and I did say DECENT LOCKSMITH , not a key duplicator either can look at the pins in your lock and determine the cuts and andhow much to file a key blank . Also Dennis Carpenter has the Key blanks , Bob Drake in Grants Pass Oregon did have tem and I'm fairly sure Stacy Brown of Antique Auto Supply in Arlington Texas still has them . Ed Shaver

Had one made for my Meteor. I left him my stuck lock cylinder and came back the next day with key and free lock cylinder. Cost $15.
