RPM Variation

Ok guys Im new here, this is my first thread and Im hoping for some good help. When cruising down the highway at speeds between 50mph-70mph my rpm's will randomly jump up 200rpm-300rpm. If anyone knows what could cause this or has experienced a similar problem please fill me in. Now mind you it will not do this at any other speed.

There is a sensor. I think it is in the top of the rear axle. If you can pull it out and clean it off that may help.

Tell us more about your truck.
Year
tranny type
any mods
how long has it been doing this
etc.

Basically anything else you can give us will help quite a bit.

As stated more info would help.
On a WAG sounds like TC is unlocking.
Check your brake lights.
Does cruise work?

More info for ya's

I replaced the sensor in the rear end about 2 weeks ago and it still does it. Cruise control will not work for any more than 1 min before it deactivates. I did not do the tranny my self but it was done in february 09 w/ new TC I understand it could still be a posibility though.

? for MADVAN

What exactly would looking at the brake light do for me, like what would it mean if they were on or off during the occurrence?

Thanks i will look into the bulbs and fuse to figure out the cruise problem. If any one has any more ideas about the RPM Variation though that would be great cause it occurs when cruise control is off also. I am gunna bring it back to the tranny shop and have a word with them about the TC cause it was supposedly replaced with the tranny but we all know how hard it can be to find a honest person now a day. I knew I should have just done the job myself but work and shcool kills all my spare time.

The brake light system has control of the TC and cruise.
Sounds like its your issue.
Check the lamps and switches.
Added/changed to led's?

Yup!!!
The led's are your problem.
Cheap led's donot mimic the oem lamp load.
Remove them or install load resistors.
