im new her and i have big ? i have a 2000 ford super duty 4x4 extend cab with a 7.3 and a tree fell on the cab & smashed it up pretty good. Now want I'm trying to do I is I have a 76 250 supercab that I wouls like to take the body off and put on my 2000 frame. Does anyone know the best why to do this or has anyone done this yet????
WOW! that's gonna be a toughy. ive never seen it done before, but there's no reason why it cant be done! i mean c'mon, i've seen Firebirds and Escorts turned into 4x4s. as long as the wheelbase is the same, it should turn out good. as for linkages, the question is, do u own a good set of torches?
This is not a problem at all. Even the wiring canbe a piece of cake> keep in mind that the entire wiring harness is all there. You will have to hard wire a few items such as the dorr switches and so forth. The only thing interesting is going to be the dash wiring, since your gauges betwwen the old and new vehicle are so much different. Other than this, this is a reasonable swap, though you will find some clearance issues with the intercooler and down pipe. Might have to use a small body lift to gain a little extra clearance.
This has been done with several engine types, to include the Cummins (most popular) as well as the Powerjoke.
Here is a clean example of a dodge interior used in a dentside:
Here is an axample of a Super Duty chassis that was cut down and thrown under a Bronco.
Again, just requires some creative thinking and a little fabrication.By having a donor truck everything is just a little easier than starting fromt scratch.
I will offer some suggestions however, and let you know that using the BW transfer case is tough to use, since the frame dimensions are different, the frame will have to be cut. The case hits the frame should you decide to use the original frame.
A complete frame swap would be easiest here.
I know it can work it need's a 3 inch body lift the frame on the 2000 is 3 inches wider but the body mounts on the 76 3 inchs longer so it will fit right on the 2000 frame perfect exept it looks like ill have to make new mounts for the core support and i'll have to take a little off the back of the wheel well to center the fender over the tires. so I was thinkig on trying to put the 2000 dash in it so I can run all the wireing well i think but so far that's my plan and I'm crossing my fingers bec i want a true ford might be hell but it will be worth all of it win im done.
It most certainly can be done! Here is a link.78 POWERSTROKE - Powerstroke Nation You need to be a member to vie photos. I am a member and it is a great site for powerstrokes

Is an oil burner SD a true Ford? Engine,,,,,,,,,axles,,,,,,,,,ehhhhh, is this really a true ford? That might be a stretch.
Combining Harvester / Navistar and Ford in a true ford statment is not really any closer than a Cummins is to a dodge.
Probably just being to picky, but I am all about making any of these trucks as nice as any builder can make it regardless of the "real" parts being used.
Much luck with the build................

Well put.
People forget that the bigger Fords get cummins motors - so why not put a real diesel in the "smaller" ones
dont get me rong i would love to have a cummins insted of a 7.3 but im trying to make the best out of what i have. my friend has a 69 ford that he just bought a 94 cummines for it and either way we are both going to have some bad a** FORDS.... im going to try and make the best out of what i got.
