CCV Mod purge frequency

My truck let's out smoke pretty much all the time.

Is this a common thing? Or bad?

I use the Rotella D dino and mine smokes pretty good too.

My CCV experience...

Schaeffers 9000 5w40 (30,000 miles of usage): heavy smoke, minimal oil condensation in the trap, stronger odor than with the Amsoil.

Amsoil DEO 5w40 (<14,000 miles of usage): little smoke, lots of oil condensation in the trap, odor wasn't too bad.

Addditional context... better UOA's with Schaeffers than with Amsoil, and that at longer OCI's.

I am running Rotella dino and have very little smoke and just a hint of smell. But when I was running Delo it was much more pronounced on both.

My experince with both a 2002 motor and now a 2000 motor is this:

'02 with Mobil 1 5w-40 fully synthetic when did CCV mod, constant smoke and a small puddle of oil out the end of the hose at night after driving it alot.

'02 w/ Schaeffer's 9000, about same amount of smoke, cleaning solvent smell, virtually no drips in the shop.

Now with the '00 motor installed w/ Schaeffer's 9000, smoke is only noticable on a cool morning startup, still have the solvent smell, no oil drips.
