Stuck lug nut help

I got new tires and went to change the front driver side tire, but one lug nut is frozen on. I can put some muscle to it and feel the stud itself moving. Any ideas on how to take it off? Thanks guys

Sounds like the tire center over torqued the nuts. I had the same thing happen a few years back at Les Schwab took it back to them and told them to fix it.. they did and now they have torque wrenches at all the car racks.

PB breaker and a torch! Heat the lug up and soak it in PB breaker!

When you get your lugs off put some anti-seize on your lugs. I have put anti-seize on my lugs and have never had one freeze on me.

GL friend.

Had a firend that this happened to.

We used a 3/4" breaker bar and a 3' pipe on the end of it.. He put his whole wieght on it and bounced on the handle. Got the timing just right of him bouncing and i smacked the breaker bar with a hammer.. The weight and the "Smack" from the hammer was enough to shock it loose.. (home made impact wrench, lets say)

Do you think he should replace the lug stud after he gets it out? I would replace them all just in case.

I would for sure replace the one that is stuck. Heat should be a last resort because you may damage the finish on your rim. I would bring it back to the shop and have them fix it for you. A really good impact should pop it loose.

Yes Jay, I would replace the one at the very least, but look at the rest and decide from there how many more to replace if any.

Ditto.....This method has never failed me. Try to watch the tire techs when you get to the shop, if they reach for the impact without a torque stick I like to stop em right there and correct em. Other things I've seen by overtorquing is warped brake rotors.

I should have mentioned. I smack it like i am beating on the socket. Not the direction that you are pushing. I would have killed my buddies fingers/arms with vibration.

I use this alot for stuck/difficult bolts, were i can.
