Question about Air Shocks

So I have a pair of new air shocks that I was contemplating putting on my truck. I got them for free from a friend. I don't know much about air vs a regular gas/oil shock (pros vs. cons) and didn't know whether I should even mess around with putting them on. I have a 78 4WD F150 I have been resurrecting (I know, I need to post pics

with 2 inch lift on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my dad has airshocks on his 70 galaxy. you can pump them up i guess, and raise the rearend up depending on weight. theyve been on there about 20 yrs and maybe 10,000 miles.

Yeah they have a valve and hoses to air them up. Not sure if they would be good for off road driving or load carrying. Hmmm. Might be cool to be able to raise the rear and stiffen it if I want. Dunno...
