I have a small probably. I have a broken knuckle on my front axle of my 87 f250 4x4. It is the one in the middle of the ifs. I dont know what the axle is to try and find a replacement for it. Can any one help me please? One other question, I have heard that a solid axle swap (like a dana 60) is a simple bolt on process. Is this true and what can i expect to pay for the Dana 60? Thanks in advance.
If your F250 is a Light Duty it's a Dana 44HD. If your F250's a Heavy Duty (8600 GVWR) it'll have the Dana 50. The Dana 60 is a bolt on swap, but you have to get all the steering components with it. I don't know about other parts of the country, but here, you'd be real lucky to get a Dana 60 for less then $500.

Dana 50 or D44HD if under 8600 gvwr. I looked into the D60 conversion and COULD NOT find a used D60 in the michigan area for less than a grand. So I gave up, the D50 rides better, at least that's what I keep telling myself...
Thanks guys for the help. My truck is the 8600 gvwr. Now i will try and find the parts i need or find the Dana 60 to swap it out.
Any one have any suggestions on where to locate an axle for the dana 50? so far all i find is 44s and 60s. the short inside axle knuckle where the univerisal connects to broke.
Thanks in advance.
