What's up PA?

I'm in the midst of solving a shock dilemma...I put my rear Bilstiens on, and since the truck was going in for inspection next week I ordered the 2 for the front and figured I'd have the mechanic put them on for me. Well, I just got a call that those shocks aren't even available until maybe August. And I know I can't mix and match...sigh.

Hey, Joe, how's about you coming down here and killin one for me.

Went away for the weekend, returned Monday afternoon. Discovered something ate a half row of bush bean plants, out of a row and a half, and most all of the other half of the row which was lima beans. Wife looked out the window this evening, and said, there's a groundhog out there. Sure enough, 15 feet from the garden was a huge old whistle pig.

Grabbed the S&W .357, dumped the ammo and loaded up with birdshot. (CCI, 1/4 oz #9). Sneaked up within 20 feet of him (must have been a dumb one, or deaf), cut loose with one round, and all he did was stand up and look around. Second round and he took off like an olympic runner for the trailer across the field. Too bad I couldn't let him have one of the 110 gr. JHP's. Looks like I'll have to put up a fence.

I think when my dad was still living (that was some 18 years ago now) we had some groundhog....lol. Had a neighbor that did a lot of hunting and he brought us game meats from time to time...mostly deer but some other things as well. When properly prepped I don't really notice much difference between that and beef.

Chuck is a little on the greasy side for some reason. Ringneck pheasant, thats' another story! Yummm Yum! Venison is good, especially sausage.
Have a resident here beside the chuck. Tentatively ID'd as a milksnake.

Yeah, chuck was always greasy. Loved the pheasant and venison though. That looks like an interesting critter in the pic too. I have some more serious types around my backyard at times...namely copperheads. Neighbor claims she saw a rattler last summer but I'm not so sure of that - although it's certainly not out the realm of possibilities.

I saw a groundhog running out back I swore was 20-25 lbs. One of the fattest I've seen around here, I think it's getting into the food the people behind me leave out for the feral cats. I've never eaten groundhog, I've had ground squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, deer, rattle snake, gator, snails, frogs, grasshopper, crickets and a whole bunch of other stuff. We also have a ready supply of wild rabbits that are getting really fat, I suspect someone is feeding them and that's okay with me. Hopefully they will be on my grill sometime this summer, I'm not telling my family what it is until after they eat it and tell me how good it was

Yeah, I hope him and the black snake stay around. Much preferred to the rattlesnakes.
Do a pretty good job on the rats and mice too. Now if I could just get them to gang up on the chuck....

lol - I don't mind the harmless types of snakes that keep the rodents at bay...but when I saw that big copperhead last summer I was looking for anything to deal with it. Haven't seen any snakes yet this year, which is good.
