OK. Here is what I got, 1982 F150 setp side, 351m, bored 40 over, 272 cam, roller timeing set, Edelbrock Performer 400 manifold, Edelbrock 650. Aussie heads, Headers, Duals. Converted from a 3 speed overdrive to a C6 with BM shift kit. Read gear ratio = 2 47 per tag on rear. I was told it would do 100mph but take a week to get there! The truck will be used as a daily driver and will pull a 1500 trailer once a month. What would you recommend? I was told also 3 90 would work. Thanks Art
If you really want it to go 100 I would suggest 3.08 or 3.55. If you want to keep towing, go with 3.73 or 4.10. All around, 3.73 is the best mix of the two.
I would go with a 3.5. I've tried 3.9 twice and did not like it at freeway speeds. Are you sure about the 2.47? I find it hard to believe that a manual transmission came with that. Tire size also makes a difference.
Iam running 31s The tage on the rear reads 2 47. accorging to sll the books I read that is what it decodes to. Befor I change the rear I will try it on the road to see what I got . Thanks Art
