lubbockguy, have you noticed whether or not the 2 cycle oil has any effects on the egr valve, as in the gumming problems some people have. it seems to me the extra oil burning in the diesel would increase the amount of oily soot. thx
Haven't pulled the egr valve. I haven't noticed anymore smoke than usual. The two stroke oil is designed to burn so I would think if there is any residue it would be minimal. I also have not run it long enough to see a different in the egr valve gunk. I've put less than 1k milage wise using it.
use DK in the warmer months due to the easy availability. used a 50/50 mix of the motorcraft summer and winter blends last winter (new england cold winter, brrrrr!!!) and it worked great as well... usually use around 1.5X normal dose with the DK and i have always gotten better mileage with it.
since the DK is only a 250 gal jug these days and the 20 oz bottle of motorcraft is 125 gal, the motorcraft is actually a bit cheaper, at least when i bought it @ $7/bottle. and i do like it better. also used a bottle of stanadyne last year and REALLY liked it but it's hard as hell to find.

I get the gallon cans of Motorcraft fuel conditioner at the Ford dealer. They tell me it's made by Stanadyne for Motorcraft
yeah, i'm going to look into that not too far down the road. if it's anywhere cheaper than ~7/bottle for the small ones, it's cheaper than DK, and i like the stuff better than DK in the first place.
hey thanks lubbockguy, that makes sense. i am going to try and do more research on it, but i have read quite a bit about adding different oils to diesel, and i am a little nervous about adding anything to mine.
