Are the 6.0 vehicles that are built for California any different due to the emissions than the ones built for anywhere else? Appreciate any info you may have.
Yes they are. Not sure of all the exact items, but the computers are programed different. The Cat. is CARB cert., and the emission sticker under the hood say EPA and Calif compliant.

i think that was way for the 7.3's but i agree with liv that all stock 6.0's are cali compliant
then how come some 04's throw a CEL for low egr flow and some dont?
Not only that but try finding an aftermarket replacement or larger cat. All of them are 49 state. Also the 05 models in Calif. had a recall for mandatory reflash. No reflash, No tags.
If you don't mind me asking? Whats the reason your looking for this info?
I am looking at an Excursion that is Cali and considering having it shipped to me in MI. I specifically said emissions but really I'm interested in any differences there might be.
Appreciate all the feedback so far.
BTW, when I buy this diesel Excursion is will be both my first diesel and my first Ford. Trying to gather all the information I can prior to the purchase and I've found a lot of great info on this site already.
I believe all the 6.0s became 50 state emission compliant starting the 2006 Model Year. 6.0s before this were only 49 state emission compliant with only trucks sold in Caly compliant with Ca emissions.
