Is there a good way to create a containment around the 6637? After many years/miles alot of crud is accumulating all over the firewall/fender area where all my electronic controls are located. I have been too paranoid to spray it down with anything. Would that be OK to clean there.
There is. problem is I can't remember the post. Somebody built a downloadable template for a 6637 cold air setup. works wonderfully. I built mine with this pattern. one could even fab up a top lid if desired. do some searching. or someone with a better memory than mine will chime in. Barney
Mine's not as pretty as Jim's, but I quit once I had something that cut down on the drone that would happen at certain speeds on some roads. I got the idea from Brandon (bdrummons) & Chris (Rampage350), but got tired of waiting on them to get around to it (they got sidetracked ordering a different filter). Ron (ronspowerstroke) sent me some pictures and measurements of his AFEII cold air box, so I played around with it to make it fit the 6637. Marc (mudmaker) offered to help with the template work, so we put it into 8 1/2" x 11" pdf files so you can just print them off your computer, tape them together, and do this yourself.
There's plenty of pictures in my gallery of the parts & pieces. I tried to design it so it could be made with a pair of tin snips, some pliers, and a few pop rivets to keep things simple.
As for cleaning the area, just take the filter off or put a plastic bag over it and clean the area up. You'll also want to cover the alternator, powersteering pump lid, & clutch reservoir lid if applicable.
Gentleman, you both did a good job. I have gone back to my AIS or I would be asking for some templates. If I go back to the 6637 I will know who to ask.

Thanks Robin One of these days life will be where it is supposed to be for me and I will make a few more boxes up.
