getting 6.9 ready for transplant

i'm getting my 6.9 ready to swap into my 78 crewcab 4x4 and
was looking at all the little rubber hoses going from injecto to injector, can these be bought or do they need to be made? Size and type hose?
also when we pulled the motor, i got all the wiring etcm except theres a round 8 pin connector on the back of the motor that was disconencted from the firewall??? And i didnt pull the silver canister mounted on the DS firewall near the inner fender?? Water seperator?
What else beside gaskets/hoses can i change before dropping this in?
I did the valve covers and oil pan already.

What year and how many miles on the 6.9?

The firewall mounted water seperator used on the 6.9 was known for air infiltration, so it being where it is now is a good place for it.
Aftermarket water seperator or use the water seperator/filter from a 7.3 is a much better choice.

The only thing I would consider above what you have done is a set of head studs if you plan on adding a turbo and cleaning out the CDR.

on the return lines i found a local diesel pickup performance shop that will sell the individual parts for the return lines instead of having to buy the whole kit. so if you've got a shop around close to ya you might check with them.

The CDR is the tuna can thing on the back of the intake held in by two 3/8's bolts. Its basically a large PCV valve, except instead of relieving blow by out of the valve covers, it vents directly from the crankcase.

Take it out and throw it in a bucket of gas and you will be amazed at the crap that comes out. DO NOT however blow it with compressed air, you will ruin the diaphram inside it.
