7 wire harness missing wires

Newbie here. I posted this thread in the towing forum, wasn't sure where the message best fits, so I put in both.

I recently purchased a 2000 Excursion. One of the reasons I purchased the X was to haul my camper. Hooked up the camper today and I didn't have brake or turn signal on one side of camper. Traced it back to the X and found I am missing 2 wires for the 7 pin connector plug. The red and black wires have been cut and apparently removed? Anyway, I know where the wires terminate (at the plug), but where do they originate? Do they come out from under the dash? <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

There is a pigtail that connects the 7 Pole socket to the towing harness. It is about 18" long. The harness end is a square connector and is usually tucked above the receiver so it can be easy to miss. Hopefully the wires are intact from that connector so you can just replace the pigtail.

In this photo, you can see the pigtail in the center.

Otherwise, the wires run from the engine fuse box to the hitch as they are run off of relays so a trailer short won't blow out the vehicles lights.

It appears you know the pinouts already, but just in case, here is how the Ex's 7 pole is wired:
