I can't add much else to what has already been said except that besides lubricity, you want to run an additive with cetane boost in it and a demulsifier to separate out the water. Those are the big concerns when it comes to additives.

I ordered a couple gallons of XPD and first added it two days ago. Seems like the injectors are quieter, similar to when I ran 2-stroke oil, but even more so. The lubricity comparison doesn't lie, it blows Diesel Kleen and everything else out of the water. I was going to get their Summer Blend, but that's their only additive that didn't list a cetane boost, not sure if it has it or not.
