Yea, I understand the myths and understand a bit about synthetic oil and it makes sense that it would make these motors run a bit better since they are very dependent on their oil condition to properly actuate the injectors and pressurize the oil. They are more dependent then a gas motor, that's a no brain'er 
Its also worth pointing out that with syn, you have I guess what you'd call a lighter viscosity, which aids in easier starts in the wintertime. These Powerstrokes can tend to be a little temperamental when it comes to cold starts.

Yeah some people learn the hard way that these big motors are super particular about the quality and condition of oil.

j/king, yes, just the nature of the beast and yet another reason to run Synthetic.
