hey guys i have a 2000 f250 5.4. my speedo is off by a couple mphs. i would like to get it fixed so i dont have to worry about it. i took it to the dealer to for them to fix it with the programmer or whatever they use. it didnt work. luckily they were nice and didnt charge me since for it. butbut is there another way to correct it? they mentioned something like it mught be through the vss. is it fixable thanks
They can fix it with the dealer programmer, or someone with an AutoEnginuity scanner can, they just need to know the procedure. I think there is a TSB which goes over it, perhaps someone can post it here.
That would be the easiest way to get it done. Programming modules with AE is very easy to do. You just have to know which module to go to and go to the testing onboard systems, select what system you want to initiate and there you go.
I highly recommend it. Worth every penny of it for the base program and the 3 licenses that I got(Ford, Toyota, Honda(I know the dreaded foreign cars)). If you fancy yourself a DIYer for vehicles this is a "must-have".
i recently bought a sct programmer. it can adjust for tires. would that tuner be able to fix it. or maybe the dealership just didnt know how to do it. any thoughts

No, it doesn't have access to those parameters in order to re-calibrate the speedo.
so my best bet would to call a different dealership and ask what they would use to fix it and if it would work or not.
The dealership should be able to do it, if they are competent it would seem. Only other avenue is either get or get someone that has software like was already mentioned and use that to get it fixed. It's fairly easy to use, it just blows you away with all that it can do. Only other software that I know that would work is PT DIAG and that's hard to come by.
