Original Bed Rails?

Did any trim packages on these trucks come with bed rails? I have two sets of bed rails that I pulled off a '77 and '79 F250s. I am about to sell them and didn't know if they were OEM or aftermarket. I want to give the most accurate description possible. I am going to get some pictures of them tonight and post them soon. Thanks for any input.

I believe they came on the Explorer package. They were used 73 thru 79, 80 thru 96 I have also seen them on. Top of the bed is is contoured different for the body styles.

My when my dad bought his '76 Explorer it came with bed rails from the factory. (that '76 is now MY truck)

Random- My dad was at an auction last year and bought a set of bedrails (same ones on the Explorer) that looked brand new for 50 cents!

The following are the "dealer installed" kits. All the individual parts were also available.

DOTZ9923220A .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1967/72 F100/350 Styleside-Long Bed (8')

D3TZ9923220B .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1973/79 F100/350 Styleside-Long Bed.

D3TZ9923220C .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1973/79 F100/350 Styleside-Short Bed.

EOTZ9923220A .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1980/86 F100/350 Styleside Long Bed.

EOTZ9923220B .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1980/86 F100/350 Styleside Short Bed.

E7TZ9923220A .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1987/89 F150/350 Styleside Long Bed.

E7TZ9923220B .. Bed Rail Kit / Fits: 1987/89 F150/350 Styleside Short Bed.

The kits are not listed after 1989. Kits were also available for 1983/89 Rangers.

The 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog says the bed rails were: stake pocket mounted.

These kits were optional on all trucks, not just installed on Explorers.

You mean these? Dennis Carpenter HAD them, but now outa stock. And in their pic it looked to be short bed ones (with the different middle bracket), than on long bed ones. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/tru...pickup-bed-top
LMC use to carry them, not shown in catalog now.

Here is an OEM set I sold a while ago. Yes I have another spare set on the parts shed shelf. Do I really want to sell them no....buy make a fair offer and we shall see.

@@77&79F250 Agreed that Dennis Carpenter and LMC used to have them and no longer carry the 8' options. I appreciate the offer; will DM you to discuss.

For the rest of you out there, let us know if there are any other vendors you've seen with decent reproductions. I believe that Highland USED to carry some options.

Bed rails

Yes, they came with the Explorer. I was told by a body shop bubba a number of years ago that you could get over $500 for the originals...but I still have 'em on my truck and never considered that.

I've got a set but I'm missing a couple pieces, the plastic base plate and the threaded insert for the passenger rear or driver's front (the left piece when facing the outside of the bed). A PO just screwed thru the base into the bed so that part has a couple extra holes. I can fab the insert but the base plate is a little harder, I can put the base on the driver's side where the cab hides the ugly holes.

DC has parts for sale, like the plastic piece that goes between the bed and the mount. "Mounting Pads and Hardware Kit still available". And I might have just one extra end base. Meaning the end cap/piece that sets on the bed. I will hit the parts shed tomorrow and look for you, if interested?
