I put on a set of Edelbrock heads a couple of weeks ago,I also added some H/S rockers while I was at it.I have not been able to get it to run good so I did a vacuum check on it and the needle was wildly bouncing between 5 and 15, the instructions said that it was probally a blown head gasket. I checked the radiator and sure enough there was oil mixed in with the antifreeze.I tore it a part this afternoon and the gaskets look okay but the combustion chambers have a black sooty appearence. I should have done a compression check first but I was sure it was a gasket. How can I get oil in the water unless I have maybe a crack somewhere I can't see? I see an add for Bar's Leak head gasket and block mender anybody ever try this? Any idea's

could also have been a incorrectly installed intake gasket. was there also water in the oil pan?
also how did you set the valve lash? a valve that is not seated correctly could also cause running issues, won't account for the oil in rad, but could be a reason for rough running.
i would lean towards the intake gasket as they tend to slip when putting on the intake no matter how careful you are.
