I have a 08 f-150 king ranch 4x4. I bought it new and after 600 miles there was a hard vibration coming up into the dash when the transmission lagged before changing when accelerating at highway speeds. The dealership replaced the 4x4 shift motor and it went away. Now with 14000 miles there is a vibration more in the front end when on the highway. It seems to happen when the transmission lags before changing when accelerating. The sound coming from the front end is like the sound when you drive on the rumble strip on the side of the highway and can be felt in the pedal. Can someone please help me!!!
It sounds like it could be your 4x4 engaging. That sound might be your IWE loosing vacuum momentarily. The sound you describe sound like the common complaint of a bad IWE solenoid, I just never heard an intermittent complaint. Usually when they go bad you get that sound all the time.
IF what a postulated is problem you can drive it for some time, although it's not altogether good for the 4x4 system seeing as the front shafts will be turning the transfer case.
