Airbag code 14

Hey everyone, was overseas for 2 1/2 years and very busy since I got home. Bronco was in storage for quite sometime. Got home in time to go deer hunting. After hitting a very deep pothole the airbag light started flashing. It went out not long after and a few days ago it came back on ond has been on ever since. Does anyone know what this code means and how to fix it?

My airbag light started flashing a code too. It was intermittent at first, but now it's on all the time. After searching enough on Google, I found that the most common recommendation is to replace your clock spring. It wraps around your steering column to provide the airbag, horn, and cruise-control wiring connections to the steering column.

I've been meaning to order one for my Bronco, since the thought of having that sucker go off in my face when I'm romping off-road really sucks.

On the other hand, the airbag is probably so old, that it might just explode on deployment anyway. After 15 years, it might be safer to just disable the thing! Does anyone know the "safe" life expectancy of these air bags?

Air Bag Codes

I have looked for the reason for 34 light code for a year or so. Thanks. It usually flashes after a humid night and clears if I restart the engine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for "34: Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Low Resistance or Shorted?" The clock spring replacement fixed a 32 code.

I would think that there's a spot of insulation missing or a crack in the insulation that is creating a short to ground when the humidity gets in the crack and creates a path of less resistance to ground.

willeec: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I have been searching so long for for this list. At least now I have a place to start. I stopped at a Ford dealer just recently and they could't help me because the service rep told me that their books only went back to 2002. Again, thanks so much. Dog.
