'02 Lariat F150 came stock with 17 " rims. I'm wondering if a)is it possible to go down to 15 " on aftermarket wheels and tires b) would it adversly effect handling/braking assuming whatever tire I go with has same final diameter as the 265/17's it's running now.
I think they are hard to find tires for and expensive my dad had an 03 FX4 and he had very limited options. I really don't think 15s will fit though his caliper was about a 1/2 inch away from the wheel, mabey if you ran some steel wheel instead of aluminum and they were not as thick but most likely not.

If the tires are the same diameter with 15s, it will wallow a bit more. Are 17s hard to find a tire for?
Well pricing out BFG KO's in my neck of the woods, roughly $90 a tire difference in price, that's good enough. And they're mid range price tires.
If I go with something more expensive you're looking at $110 or more.
I thought that 15's were standard on the base model, but I've found a page with the '02 specs that says they were 16". Oh well guess I need to wait another couple of months to save those extra pennies.
