I have just about finished the stripping of the old red '53 I got from Walford. I have pretty much harvested everything I want from it. I am down to the rolling chassis with engine and T-98 4sp. synchro tranny on it. I think I have possibly negotiated a sale for the tranny, driveshaft, clutch and bell housing. I still haven't found anybody that wants the Y-block V-8 that is on it. I got it to run a little but I destroyed the bendix gear on the starter so I haven't gotten it to run again. According to the block casting number it is either a 292 or a 312. I have no use for it but I do believe it would make an good candidate for a rebuild or parts.
The frame is a real rust dog with some actual rust through so it isn't worth much other than to use as a cut and fit mock-up. It appears that the original owner was a fanatic for lubrication and really kept the the spring pins and bushings loaded eith grease so I would say they are probably in good shape and the hanger brackets look good too. The king pins also look to be in good shape. I had to remove the steering box and column to get the cab off but I have the parts and the steering box seems tight and usable.
Although I mentioned I have a possible customer for the tranny I have yet to get a confirmation. So, if anyone is interested, I'd be willing to make a greatly discounted package deal to get the whole thing out of here without me haveing to fool with it any longer. I have what I want from it and the rest should go to people who need it. I am willing to take a big cut compaired to selling off the seperate pieces if I don't have to do anything else to it. I would even be willing to trade for needed body parts. Make the trade deal sweet enough and I can throw in a delivery which is probably worth as much or more than the parts.
I have not put this in the classifieds because of the possible pending deal on the tranny. I thought I'd just let it be known here first. If anyone is interested e-mail or PM me.
Dave, I put mine on craigslist and had callers within a couple hours. If restorers don't call, rat rod people will. They want the complete suspension, front and rear. I was asked about the engine. I gave the 302 to someone for their pickup. The engine ended up not being in very good condition internally. Have a great weekend, chuck
Hi Chuck,
I just put it on Craig's list for the Colunbus, Ohio area which is pretty big and quite populated. Of course Ohio has been ripped pretty hard by the recession but we'll just give it a try. I'm sure that if I wanted to fool with it long enough I could get more money. I just need to get rid of the stuff so I can move around a bit without tripping over the stuff.
Dave.....did I hear my name?//LOL
I just sold a frame and maybe interested. I need to get out of these trucks....health is worse.Bill
Hi Bill,
Sorry to hear about your health. I was just thinking of you. I just posted the pics on my website. Go to http://www.pvpmedia.com/FSW1.htm
To see them.
I'm still looking for doors, hood and all fenders. I don't mind a few dents or minor holes. I hope to sell some stuff to get then or trade work as an effort to keep the cost down.
Dave,
You still got the radio and speaker? I still have the 53-55 doors.I'd be interested in an even trade. The doors are just shells, and one is real solid the other has one rusty corner but fixable.

Let me know,

That sounds like a fair deal to me. I have the radio and speaker out but I have never tried to fire it up. I can tell you that the actual speaker is no good by looking at it but the speaker enclosure is OK but it needs cleaned up and repainted. You can get a replacement speaker of much better quality that will be a direct fit from MCM Electronics in Dayton or about a hundred other places for about ten bucks. Terri is against the deal......I have found a driveshaft and no more parts and pieces.....only running trucks.....and found a few more......just need to rest and get back to my ole self.
Will see what developes....Bill
That depends on what else you want. The stuff I am currently getting rid of is on http://www.pvpmedia.com/FSW1.htm and it's associated links. I am sure there will be more in the future but right now that is all I have ready to go.
