Installed a msd 6al ignition box in my truck with a mallory unilite distributor. Upon doing all that the truck did fire up one time and run for about 2 minutes, shut it off, went out a few minutes later and now no spark. I checked the box and all connections seems to be good. I guess what I am needing help with is how can you check the distributor if it is good or not? However I do have a resistor between the coil and the dist., coil is good too.
never had any luck with the mallory unilite distributor.check the light if it gos out it wont fire the msd box.did the instructions show to put a resistor between the coil and the dist?i have never put a unilite with a msd but remember it showing it in the instructions.i've had good luck useing stock dura spark dist with 6al's.but in my many years even they go out every now an then.same thing if it dont break the fire it wont run
good luck
I never had luck with mallory unilite dizzy in my chevy past. But got a good deal on it and now understand why. I would try the duraspark but i've got a solid roller cam, not sure how well that would work together.
any dist will work you just have to use brass gear or steel in some cases.you may pull you dist and see if it still has a gear if your running a roller.i built a motor for my kids car and used a stock roller in it and thought since it was factory it would run a reg gear well i was wrong started running like crap and then stoped running all together.pulled dist and gear was ate up put a steel gear on an she run like a new one
Try running one of these if you are burning up the modules they are really sensitive I ran a Unilite on my Fairlane and never had any trouble with it till I got a good stereo and fried it. Istalled this and never had trouble agian. Mallory :: Product Details
