Hi All, I have a 05 F-350 Dually, and ordered it with the Upfitter Switches in 05, (yah, I know, 4 years later and he's finally using the switches). Now, I did hook up the #3 switch to a set of 55W lamps I wanted to use for back up lights....they went on for about 4 seconds, and never re-lit. I think maybe the "Relay" fried seein I didn't have an inline fuse anywhere. So my question is this.....How do I hook them up, ...do I need a fuse, and if so what amp? 14 or 16 gauge wire? Yah, what size fuse do I use? (I need one right?) (I thought the relay would take the place of the fuse). And I'm guessin I will be using the #1 OR #2 switches as they are 30 Amp-ers opposed to the others which are 10 Amp.
Id'e love to hear from anyone who can help, and appreciate your thoughts.
I have installed the upfitter switches on my 05 CC F-250, and you are correct the #1 & #2 are 30 amps and #3 & #4 are 10 amps. But if you hooked it up by your fuse panel, where there is pigtails already in place to splice on, you already have a fuse in the fuse panel, for the upfitter switches. I installed back up lights on my #1 switch about a year ago and have not had a problem since. If your truck came with the switches it is very simple to tie on to. I think the pigtails have a color code on them, I will have to check on that, for the switches. I hope this helps
You will have to replace the blown fuse. Then create a relay circuit to power your heavy load- its easy and parts are widely available. Instructions are on the relay package, and on this website.
