It's free, and with those symptoms, there's a good chance it may just solve the problem.

I spent 3 weeks looking for a cure to the exact same problem.
One mile I'm a rolling meat locker and the next mile I'm a suana.
The gap in mine was .049 Changed it to .020 as I had only one spacer in there. I drove around for an hour after making the change and all is well for now.
Best 10 minutes I ever spent.

I sometimes think about the poor schmucks that aren't part of an on-line forum, who take it to the stealer to have their compressor replaced instead. Of course, that'll fix it, but only after spending a wheelbarrow full of dollars with them.
Yes, the money I spend in being a supporter of this site may be the best return-on-investment I've ever made.

I am one of the lucky ones who decided to take my time in learning about the system and how it works before spening the money. I spent weeks on the internet looking stuff up. I came across this forum and one other that had mentioned this procedure. By this time I had only spent $50.00 on a new high prssure switch and a low pressure switch.
I was reluctant to take the front of that compressor down however, looking at how much things were about to cost, I decided to get into it. How hard was it really?
The easiest thing I've ever done. One 8mm bolt about 1.5 inches long to deal with. Maybe move the water resevior out of the way a bit which, by the way, is also held in by 8mm bolts. And that's it. Then all you haveto do is change thegap by removing washers.
I now carry a 8mm socket and a feeler guage in my truck just in case I run into another that has the same problem. I can fix it in 10 minutes or less.
Now if everybody around here knew how easy it is to change the upper oil, their injectors would last 500,000 miles or more.
Thanks again pops.
