My stocker did well for me with II's. I had no IC so I didn't tow but it sure was a fun truck to drive. II's will toast a turbo if you drive it like you stole it. If you mind your manners you will be fine, hard to tell what egt's will do when towing.

You know, after I spoke to you on the phone yesterday I thought about your tranny. I know you have done alot to it, I remember the thread. I just wanted to warn you that the tranny will definately be your weak link in your particular setup.

Personally if it were me and I was doing what I know you do with your truck, I would be saving up for a BTS tranny in the future. Yours may hold on for awhile but II's will surprise you on the power/torque. Just FYI, keep us posted and stay in touch.

Ran 2s with stock turbo and no intercooler and could bury the EGT gauge with out any trouble on TS tunes had Tony reburn and couldnt get over 1100* running it hard empty. I'm sure you'll be fine with an IC on there and let Tony burn accordingly.
FYI your HPOP will be a VERY unhappy camper with stage 2s

I was afraid to get 2's, I thought they'd smoke to much. It didn't take long and I was wishing I had the 2's

BTW the avatar pic is with BDP 1's and "clean burning" biodiesel.

The stock setups just doesn't flow the amount of air needed to keep those injectors happy. I think you'd be alright, but as others have mentioned, your tranny will probably fail before the charger does.

well neal, i always drive it like i stole it. and she always gets big freakin loads too. i tow more with it than i've seen behind any other pickup in town. other day i got a comment on how much i had on the pintle hitch behind the f700. i laughed and told them i usually tow it behind an F250, and the gooseneck weighs about a ton more than the pintle hitch trailer haha.

the tranny going south would be a REALLY good excuse for getting a 5 speed =) like TJ said, gotta pay to play.

True True. Gotta pay to play. My brother as you know wants to do the 5 speed also and it will pretty much require a donor truck to pull it off. Still looking for that special donor right now.

stock turbo will be fine for a little while, mine is fine and clears up almost all smoke
skip 1s and 2s and go to straight to hybrids with a modded H2E, 425hp is fun but gets boring

When I was talkin to my trans guy he said he could make teh E4OD bullet proof and hold as much or more hp than the manual. I've run both stick and built autos towing and each have plus and minus. I do alot of backing up into barn with trailers and you end up slipping the clutch to go slow enough

You've got 3.55 gears, so you're geared quite fast. Something a lot of folks don't know they can do with a 4X4 is slip it into 4 wheel low when you need or want the low gear for backing up, or just moving around in a tight place and you want the extra low gear. This is quite easy and won't hurt anything if you have manual hubs. You don't need to lock in the hubs when doing this unless the ground surface calls for it. You just do it to get the extra slow gear. It'll save a clutch and the tranny if it's an automatic. If you got automatic hubs, that might be a different situation though.

As for injectors, I had a set of 150cc single shots installed in my 97 a few months ago from swamps. The tuning is mild which is what I want for a work truck. I was shocked at how much more power it has! The truck weighs 13,000lbs, and has 4.56 gears with an automatic. I still get the same fuel mileage, around 12.5mpg. Jelico mountain doen't even slow it down in the least. I could weigh a lot more and still top that hill at 70+ mph. It'll also roll some coal at the low rpm's, which is kinda cool! Don't have gauges, so I don't know the egt's it gets to. But 80 tow is the highest setting I have.

I always use low range in all our trucks when backing up and it makes it a milion times nicer. Even in low range reverse is quick when you get in tight spots backin in a barn. It all depend on what you do with them
