Air Bag OBD1 Code 27
Ok so the other day I was changeing out my factory radio with a aftermarket one which I have been doing since I was like 16 and after I got it all wired up and installed I wen to turn the key to set the time date ect. and my airbag light on the dash starts flashing, once, then seven more times. I know this to be OBD1 codeing because my 89 Trans Am will do the same thing with the check engine light. So after Googleing the number 2 7 I found a site that says the on/off switch light is bad and needs to be replaced. Well, that would explain why the light is not on when I turn the passenger air bag off
The same site lists a Radio Shack part number for the bulb that goes in side the module for the passenger air bag switch as 292-1099 and is a 120Ma bulb. Well, after going to Radio Shack with ten minets before they close I find out they dont have one in stock
I ask the nice girl in that works there if there is another store close by that has any. She is nice enough to pull out the list of stores and call around to see who has any and after about 2 to 3 minets she finds a store that has them but its on the other side of town!! I now have like five minets to get there but since Ford didn't make our trucks with wings there is no way I can get there in time so I have to wait till the morning. Luckly you can still drive the truck with out the light you just have a nice blinking airbag light in your face...lol So I get the light bulb only to realise that the part number that was listed online has the wrong amprage. The part number is 292-1099 and is a 60Ma bulb and comes with yellow, red, and green lights in the package. With a lil solder and about ten minets i had it in and it works great. So if any one ever has this problem now you know how to fix it.Marc
