I just purchased a 2000 Excursion Diesel 4x4. I purchased from someone in Texas and I noticed that the Texas plate does not have any tags on it such as month and expiration year. Is that a Texas thing? I don't want to be driving in California over the weekend with the tag-less plate and get pulled over. Any Texans out there with some insight? Thanks.
Texas uses windshield stickers to valadate it's licence plates.
If the vehicle has two stickers on the lower drivers side windshield showing 09 or 10 the Ex has passed it's last vehicle inspection and is up to date on it's registation.

The plate stays with the vehicle in TX? Right?
Here in MS the plate stays with the owner and you turn it in when you sell the vehicle for whatever prorated credit back that is left. (read: not much)
In michigan the plate should slways stay with the original owner from the truck. You are supposed to have a period that you are able to drive to your residence with a vehicle you just purchased with wriiten out reciept and you are covered by your insurance.
Sierra6 thanks for the quick reply. That would make sense as there are a couple of stickers on the windshield. I didn't even give them a second glance since I thought they were a military base sticker and I was going to take them off. Good thing I didn't.
