need help!!!

Hey it's me again the new guy. Having problems keeping my truck running. In the last month it's been in the shop or in the driveway three and a half weeks of that. Here is what i or the mechanic have replaced: two batteries, cam sensor, and the injector driver module. Now here is what it is doing: while driving on any surface at any speed it will shut down(the engine). It will 99.9% of the time start right back up. Check eng light comes on only for a couple seconds so the mech can't get any codes out of it. I really hope you guys have heard of this before also I hope it's cheap to fiyeah right). I'm lost big time need some advise. Thanks Tyler M

going to be hard to find with no codes..it sounds like a short some place..does it happen at night to?? if so..does the headlights flicker when it shuts down or does the motor just shut down??? has any one checked the oil level?? ..old oil and low oil level will shut the truck down as well..

What's he using to pull the codes? Not all code readers will see the codes in these trucks. When the engine dies, does it stumble, surge & cough like it's running out of fuel, or does it shut off like someone just turned the key?

Where did you get the CPS? We've heard lots of stories about a bad CPS from the local auto parts stores.

Intermittent issues are a paint to track down. If it were me, I'd spend the $25 and buy a CPS from the Ford house and stick it in. Throw the bor werner in a ziplock bag and keep it in your glove box as a spare.

It's also worth checking the connector on the CPS and IDM to make sure everything is plugged in correctly, and there are no burnt, or damaged pins in the plugs. If the rebuilt IDM is acting up, I don't know of any way to test that other than swap for a known good one or wait for it to start throwing codes.

You can also start looking around for chaffed wires on the big harness that goes over the drivers side valve cover, the wires coming out of the square box (same harness) on top of the engine, a harness that runs over the top of the drivers front shock, and the wiring inside the steering column. Any of these wires that short to ground can cause those types of issues.

That means you are telling the website to send you email notifications of the next post in this thread.
It also tells the thread participants that you are listening, but really have nothing to add at the moment.

What he said x2....go to the top of the page and click on "Thread Tools"....go down and click "subscibe to this thread" it will take you to a subsciption window. ...set your preference and you will get email notifications of each new post on that thread. Hence subscibing. Hope this helps.

Similar symptoms when my IPR went south. It would die just like a cps but then a few minutes later it would start right back up. Then after a day or so of that madness it just wouldnt start at all tell i put a new IPR in it.
