My 1975 F600 is elusive, I've spent nights trying to find a VIN decoder for these heavier trucks I want to order engine parts but do not know what engine I have . F60ECW8xxxx, does anyone know what engine is supposed to be in there ?
it is probably a 360 or 390, im guessing at this because i have no idea what "E" is as an engine. The engine is the fourth character of your VIN and i cant find an E.
Your best bet is to post a pic of the engine here.In a heavy truck that old it could be just about anything. Most likely it is a 361 2 barrel,I have the factory shop manuals and I decoded the vin # for you.but seeing as you have a 4 barrel carb obviously there has been a modification.Keep in mind that the fe and ft's are almost the same plant just the fe's are car light truck plants and the ft's are more geared toward medium duty truck use (ft=ford truck)FYI the first 3 digits F60 are the model,F600,the # 4 digit is the engine,E=361 2V,The 5th digit is the assembly plant code in your case C=Ontario, and the rest of the digits are the consecutive #'s for production. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask or pm me.I am a firefighter with the FDNY but I am a heavy truck mechanic by trade and have been professionally for 20 years now.I am always happy to help someone in need,I can decode the rest of the door tag if you want,I have all the service manuelsfor 1975
