Second answer, 1/4 quarter of a turn per test. Of course, the straight ahead position wears the gears there first. If you tighten too much, it will be dangerous when turning due to hang up. I tried it then bought Red-Head. This subject has been covered many times available under the search under forums above.
First answer, yes if the box gears are worn evenly which is doubtful.
