89 460 efi help!!!

Ok, I have a 87 F150, I put a 89 F250 in it with a 5 speed. I had a parts truck to swap everything over. The motor is completly new besides the distributer. The truck runs great. The temp runs around 190 and 210. It runs so good that I can get it to spin the 35's in all 5 gears. The problem is when I drive it to town which is about 20 mins away, get back in to leave, i try to start it and it acts like the battery is dead cranks really hard, or it has also acted like it carburated, starts up for a sec and putters and dies. It does that a few times then stays running. It idles fine when it does either thing. Driving down the road seems to me it lost it's power. Its really bad going up a hill constantly shifting from 3rd to 4th then 3rd to 4th. It won't keep up. Seems to me Timing is not advancing. It has to be electrical. Has anyone had this problem. I know the distributer gear was a little sloppy but not real bad, it worked when the moter ran before i tore it apart. I need help, i want to use the truck, i hate leaving it sit in my garage, i want to drive it. Help Please. Oh and also, the timing has already been set. So i know that is good.

Codes.. have you checked the codes?
Is the O2 sensor hooked up?
Does the timing advance when the engine is idling?

fuel filter. if the truck is warmed up and you have trouble getting it to restart its likely the fuel filter. for some reason idk why this is often the solution.

the fuel filter is new as well. Everything is new. Thats why is so confussing. I know what your saying. But also when i start it up, I acts like it's not advancing when started because of the cranking over hard.

I will do that. I don't blame you for being lost. Everyone is. I was hoping someone on here has had this problem. My friend is one hell of a mechanic and he dont' know either, the guys here at work same way. they have no idea. I thought about trying the distributer, but a new one ain't cheap and i don't know if it's worth the gamble. You know.

The hard starting when warm indicates it's either running rich or there is a bad connection between the battery and starter or engine and ground. If the truck has headers it could also be that the starter is overheating, or it could just be a weak starter.

I think it's running a little bit rich, i notice is smokes a little reving it up when i start it up, not to much though. the truck don't have headers, the starter is grounded to the frame, ford starters are known to go bad without adding a ground from it to the frame.

Hard/slow cranking at a hot start up can also be initial timing too far advanced.

I know that's what it would be and that's what we thought so we double checked the timing and it's good. that's what's throwing me off. It makes no sense. that's why i thought the Distributer would be the case because it's the only thing that's not new, when it get hot it doesn't want to advance the time.

ok, i would try another starter, but, the starter works fine. I know that it works fine when cold and it sounds like a starter issue, but the truck runs terrible when up to opperating temp. so the starter just doesn't seem to me an issue. Truck just loses power it's not there like it is when i start it up from cold.
