Wandering all over the road

My 2005 f-250 is doing the same thing. Driving down the road and its enough to scare the h--l out of me, put a rebuilt power steering box, did not help much. I'll try the synthetic oils. Any other good advice?

have you gone over every single component, looking for slack and tightening the bearings, checking alignment and bushings, bolts and hardware? also do you have good tires? i did all that and it helped, but now i still have a problem. i got a Al cardone steering gear that is bad from new. what did you get?
i hope this helps. if you fix it please tell me how.

I have replaced almost every part on the front end as far as the tie rods and such, put my stock tires back on to see if it was a tire trouble, all to no avail. I am pricing a brand new PS gearbox from Ford to see if a brand new one will help. Also I have not replaced the ball joints yet, I have them on hand and will put them on this week. I'll let you now how it goes.

People on this site have had good luck with this vendor: Red-Head Steering Gears, Seattle WA - Red-Head Steering Gears Home

You might give them a call and see if they have any ideas.

I am assuming that when you say stabilizer bar, you are referring to the Panhard bar, or the Trac-bar. While I would agree that those need to be replaced from time to time, that was not what I was referring too. The steering stabilizer is a specially designed horizontal shock that runs between your axle and your steering linkage to provide a cushioning effect. If your vehicle does not currently have one, you would be AMAZED at how much of a difference it makes in reducing the side to side hammer felt in your steering wheel.

how are thy not the same?
I went through it when my brother-in-law was looking at E-series vans for his delivery business.

The 2005 E350 for instance, different rear end (Sterling/Ford/Visteon 10.5" in the F-series, Dana (70 I think) in the E-series).

And I believe everything else is different too. Rims, brakes, frame, you name it.

Definitely not "the same truck".

I am sure there is an OEM kit that can be had from the dealer. We had more than one vehicle that it was omitted on from the factory and we bought the oem one to put on. They are also made by Rancho, Superlift, Rize, and several others.
