Power steering gear

Hi guys. Sounds like we're the ones stimulating the economy with all these parts!
My turn now.
I'm trying to cross reference my power steering gear for a new one. Rebuilt.
It's a D9AC 3580 A2a.
A1 Cardone and ACdelco have the rebuilt ones. But I'm not ordering unless I know it's correct.
It's supposed to be 40 out this week end. Heat wave.
Thanks

This is not the part number for the steering gear box, it's the ID engineering number marked on the sector shaft cover ONLY.

Any steering gear box bought from auto parts stores is nothing more than a resealed gear box.

Ford did not install bearings on the sector shaft, it rides directly on the housing. So before too long, fluid will begin leaking from the sector shaft seal.

Red Head takes the housing, machines it to install the bearings that Ford left out...on purpose so they could sell a gazillion seal kits.

X2 on just go with a Red Head and never look back. The "rebuilt" ones at the local parts shop just have fresh paint and that's it.

Red Head steering boxes have a great reputation on here.

Lippy not saying you do not do a good job, but it sounds like Cardone does not do what Red Head does, and that is fix a design flaw that ND describes above.

Red Head has a reputation that is above all others.
