So I have had my truck now for 2 years and have never towed anything with it. I just purchased two jet ski's and get to use the truck for it. However I have not paid much attention to the trailer wiring connectors before today and I looked and the 4 way is corroded. (I have the 7pin and the 4 way package) I go to pick up the ski's on Friday and want everything to work properly. Is there a way to clean off the connector and will it still work after it's been corroded?
There is a special connector cleaner out there, also know as electrical cleaner. Use that a few times! I just spray the crap out of the connector, let it drip for a few minutes, wipe it up and hit it again with the spray. Do this as much as needed to get it clean! Then hit it with the electrical grease after it is all cleaned up! If it is the female portion of the plug, use "Q-Tips" to get in there and clean them out. Works great!
