I'm sure that comment will come back to haunt me in a few years lol
Actually there has been little time for anything else for me for the past few weeks. Get up, go to work, get home from work, grind/paint the Jeep, play a few rounds of Halo, go to bed, repeat. Don't I sound like a thrilling 21 y/o
fortuneately my wife is a money hungry fool, so she doesn't seem to mind it when I work the really long days, and am gone alot because of work (plus she is used to it, her dad was always working huge days, every day so he would leave before she got up, and get home to tell her good night) Its the 5 to 15 minutes I sneek off to a friends house to visit, that she starts calling every two minutes, "where you at? you have to be at (insert place) in 5 minutes, now you are going to be late, or you are going to make me late for (insert activity)"
Seems that I don't get much time to hang out with the friends, but I can understand her point also. She takes care of kids all day, then takes the brunt of taking care of them all evening, especially when I work late. So when she can get a break she deserves it. Its just too bad she won't consider letting that really cute college girl move in and let her take care of the girls when we are gone, doing our own things.. Of course if there was a really cute college girl living at my house that was unrelated to me... I probably would hurry home all the time.

Boy, you better hope that your wife doesn't read this thread. Otherwise you dream of living with a cute college girl may be more possible than you thought before!
na, we got one in the basement right now, she takes over the daycare for Julie once in a while so Julie can do the doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, etc.. I kid Julie about it all the time, now she just expects it.
Balance? I think you spend your whole life trying to figure that one out. If you have kids that are at home, you just have to make them and family a priority. If you can eventually involve your kids in your hobby, then you can have the best of both worlds. I used to take the girls camping and huntine when they were little and they loved it. Kinda like Curtis and his girls wheeling. They still enjoy outdoor activities. Work is what you do so you have resources for the other stuff. Don't sell yourself to your work or make it your whole life or it will leave you short some day. That isn't to say you shouldn't work at something you enjoy. If you can do that you have the best of both worlds.
It sure seems some days that I am the little circus guy spinning about 20 plates on poles... I keep spinning them, and about the time they are all going good the life either chucks up a new plate, or plate number one starts to slow down and wobble, making me run over there and spin it again... then plate 5 wobbles... ect ect...
I guess I am not worried or too stressed. Just wondering what others did to cope a little. With the economy going down --- more plates are going to wobble.
Ya know when I grew up there weren't no micro wave and no dish washer (cept us). No puter an we had one tv (we were lucky, Dad worked for GE). We never ate out. Mom did a lot of sewing. We had a clothes line in the back yard and used it. I don't know how they did all that.
Now I ain't one ta talk cause I'm the best person at doin nothin that I know and I git a lot practice.
Kinda like what Dell said. Just take care of the portant stuff and everything else will be ok.
I hear ya man. Right now the 2nd shift thing ain't so bad, I can get the stuff done I need to in the morning while everyone is still in bed, then spend a little time with them before I go to work. But when school starts, if I;m still workin' 2nd I won't get to see much of Benny so I think the weekend off road trips with him are gonna be a little more important.
