I'm thinking about putting a supercharger on my 5.0. Unfortunately I have a mazda 5 speed and was curious if anyone knew how much power they can take, or how much power you have on yours if it's more than stock? Anyone have an engine with serious ***** on their mazda? I'll be pushing about 300hp to it.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Sunroof, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Superduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Top speed is 65mph, Go Baby Go!
I'm no expert but I've owned two trucks with this trans. My father rebuilt the Mazda 5sp that was in my 92 bronco with a 300 six. At that time I wanted to swap the 300 for a stroked 351w since they have the same bell housing bolt pattern. He said the gears and the shafts looked strong enough, but the bearings were too weak. He also didn't think the case would handle the torque.
Thanks for the reply, if anyone else has any thoughts please feel free.

mazda's rarely hold up to stock motors for long when used hard. Put a supercharger on there and you'll be puttin in a new tranny. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Have my truck and am always spinning tires or accelerating hard. and never was good on letting clutch out smoothly but has 253,000miles and still running strong with it. Main problem I heard is ATF is not thick enough. Running straight 30w motor oil in mine.
if your don't care about gas mileage, get a t18,t19, np435 or some other superballsy tranny . they are hard to break, but the highway rpm's can be annoying. you may also enjoy a granny low gear!!
If anythin gi'd get a ZF...granny first and overdrive.
