I have an Airtex E2000 high pressure fuel pump on my E150;88' 4.9 the fuel pressure in run mode and static mode is around 85 psi. Regulator has been changed also, have good vacuum. Is this normal for an aftermarket pump? Vehicle runs good.
I looked up the specs on the pump and it indicates it's output as 100 psi. I'm not sure the regulator can control it that well at that input pressure. Thoughts?
All of the Ford pumps putout about 100 PSI with a blocked head.
Sounds like the return fuel line from the fuel pressure regulator is plugged or crimped closed.
There was one the other day like this and the return line was pinched closed near the fuel tank.
If you have two tanks you may have a blockage in the fuel selector valve on the frame also.
Thanks!! your input prompted me to go back and check the return lines again;and sure enough the return was twisted tight at the top of the tank. I had to drop the tank to find it though. I had the tank out a while back,I would have never noticed the restriction unless I was checking fuel pressure for another reason. Now if I can find an EEC to remedy the fuel pump running for 30 sec. before it will start symptom i'll be good! Once again thanks for your valuable help!
