If you're not intending on reusing the cable just cut it so there's something to put in the changer. I think that's what I'm going to do since it looks like the console has to come out to fpllow it. There's online wiring schematics to trace down from the head unit.
Hope I get some connectors when I get it...If I do,I can make a new cableLater on Kaboom!
RCD, where are you located? I also have a 6disc changer and head unit from my 01 Supercrew that i took out when I bought it. The only thing is, that you'll have to get the cable that goes from the changer to the head unit, as most guys don't go thru the hassle of removing the cable because it's tied and taped into the factory harness.

I'm in SLC Utah. Where are you? How much you want to get out of it. Does the head unit have CD hole or just the controls for the changer?
Im not sure if the Radio/CD changer (Factory) came with a head unit with CD drive in it.Most of the Ford units Ive seen either have the single CD (Head unit),or a head unit with no cd,but indeed the controls for the attached changer.
I may be way off base here..so dont take my word for it.If you have problems finding a good Head unit with the single CD,you might just want to have an aftermarket unit installed with an adapter assy.IF its professionally done,it looks great, and sounds just as good.
Yea I know I can do that. I think your correct, they came with single CD in the head unit , or controls for the changer, not both. I will keep looking till I decide. I think I might have found what I'm looking for locally

CD holder is out. Glad my wrist is as good as new. Things seem to come apart in these newer trucks with true grit and determination if you don't want to swear at it. lol The cable end that is in the console will come with it. Maybe I can get the installer to cut the end in the dash so you can just splice in some wire.

Most excellent...Im relatively sure Ive got some shielded cable at the shop.I can build it myself...Ill be here!
That should surpass what the factory used. Looks like just wires wrapped in factory tape.
Yep.. we have quite alot of different varietys of cabling in the shop..some is the "Aircraft Grade" stuff, and the other is just Belden stock wire.As long as Ive got enough wire left on the connectors to identify, and splice onto, all should be fine...Just lemme know when its on its way as mentioned earlier.

Your place sounds like our Terminal Supply Co. here. Anything you would want and the counter girl is cute.
I personally work on Air Transport Weather Radar systems, our shop has(among other areas) a Nav-Com section,Instrument section,Inverter section, and we overhaul Engine harnesses for Northwest(now Delta) Airlines. We also build wiring harnesses for all our Test Equipment that we use in-house as well as the T/E sold to other shops.Ive been there for 22 years...the Wife also works there...shes been there around 12...
Im figuring that cable will compromise of a Power wire,Ground,a small co-axial cable for the CD output to the amp,and maybe a control wire or two.
Good thing about this is that since Im not sure where the CD Changer is gonna go,I can place it where I wanna, and make the cable custom length.

We didn't have any passengers-just bombs. B52s during the Nam era. Any complaints and the bomb bay doors open. lol I was with the training end of it all but it was fun.

Believe it or not,Ive probably worked on some of the Avionics from that Era,You would be surprised at what some Airlines, and Private Pilots send in to be worked on.Ive Restored the Weather radar for the Super Connie(AVQ-50) and done some work on the radars that went in the old C-47s,and DC-3s.Bottom line is..if it meets factory specs(no matter how old it is) ite legal to fly......BTW....Concerning Bombs....Is that why youre "Kaboom10"?

Then I've probably seen your handy work. Kaboom10 came from us manufacturing ammo and the noise the test rounds made. The 10 was the first accepted number when I was setting up my first email account for our business.
