Good question!

Joe,

Excellent question.

Frequent oil changes are always a good preventative measure. It helps to limit the oxidizing process that you are describing.

Another path that we recommend is using our Blue Diamond product which is a pure synthetic (not a blend) 5W-40 and the bypass filter system. Our customer who has 500K plus now on his 6.0 using this system goes 50K-60K plus between changes and is still using his original injectors and is not having the other typical issues.

If you add it up, it is a savings in time and effort as well as cost.

Or one could just run a treatment through periodically and use the Rotella or equivalent at greater intervals and do it that way.

Many options are available.

Hope this helps!

Dan

50K miles between oil changes on a 6.0l with 500K miles and original injectors?

PROVE IT!!!

I can't find a big enough BS flag emoticon for that one...

You better have something to back that up. That as of right now is blowing off the roof to my crap meter.

Trust me, my post would be quite lengthier then what it actually is going to be because it would be filled with a lot of words that boiled down mean "that is just crap".

I hope that was a typo, because unless you have some damn good proof, I'm really going to have a hard time believing anything that you type from here on out. Which was pretty close to happening already, but it damn sure is going to happen now.

This is just...well....crap(not the 4 letter word I would choose, but I have to be on my best behavior sometimes).

You know, I really haven't seen any objective information from them on any of their threads, just them saying that they would post them. Now they do have a job to run and that does create delays in response just trying to get info to people on the forum, but damn, you wouldn't believe the business you could generate from a place like this or the crap that you could get as well.

I really wouldn't count on anything from him, he doesn't reply much after he says what he has to say to hock the product and then he moves on. Really frustrating to be honest, I'm trying to keep an open mind, but this last post definately takes the cake and that proof really better be damn good and I would want more then just my money back from the cost of the product, I'm wanting them to back up my warranty as well.

It is important, but I think supertruck here has gone above and beyond in some instances(now this is just my opinion) then what latitude site sponsors should get. Almost to the point of "prostitution" if you will as much as he is selling those products and the claims that are made about those products.

What the hell does this have to do with the OP?

I have to plug our product.

You can help avoid the dealership with future repairs of injectors or related engine breakdown by running Hot Shot's Secret. It was tested and proven to be safe and effective for the 6.0...it helps avoid stiction, the cause of injector failure.

If it saves one of these future trips to the dealership it has paid for itself many times over.

You can find us online at Lubrication Specialties | Diesel Motor Oil | Primrose Engine Oil | Fuel Additives | Oil Additives | Engine Restore| or

Good Luck!

All I have to do is mention Beachbumcook and the fascination he has with oil.....

He has HARD facts that his bypass system is a nice option, but completely unecessary....IF you change your oil @ 5k or less intervals. The injectors on the 6.0L shred the oil viscosity regardless of how clean the bypass system makes it.

This stuff sounds like snake oil to me.

I agree. Snake oil.

And to tracyclifton:

I picked up my truck after having the turbo replaced. When I got home and popped the hood, the technician had left one of those black bungee cords with the metal hooks just lying across the top of my engine. If it had fallen down into the serpentine belt it could've been a mess. Sorry you had trouble and hopefully it'll get fixed.

Even if the stuff works there are better ways to bring it up.
