I am thinking of changing from an NP 435 to a C6 in my daughters 76 f-100 4x4 . If any one has done this swap can you give me some insight as to the problems that I may expect to encounter. I plan on using a B&M floor shift if they make one so I don't have to swap out steering columns. Thanks for any help.

Just did the same thing in an 86F150... you will need the adapter between transmission and transfer case. Drive shaft will more than likely need to be leghtened or shortend. My rear shaft had to be cut and the front one needs to be made longer. I also have to lower the rear transmission cross member. Make sure you get the correct flywheel for your year motor. Ford motors were internally balanced and internally balanced. I used a standard torq converter. I also used an external trans cooler..
I did a 5 speed to a C6 last year. If you have a 4x4 it gets a little more complicated but its not to bad. Ford has a few different length addaptors for the xfer case so you might want to look in to that.
Works case is that you have to get the drive shafts redone (i did), also you will need a tranny cool, I used a B and M cooler made for towing. As for the cross member and dropping it that is not necessary you will need to buy the right tranny mount and that will take car of the problem.
