08 rear diff bolts.

Anyone got the specs on what size / thread the bolts are? Ford wants $8 for each one! I'm about to swap out my rear diff cover and need longer bolts. I think they are like 5/16" something?

I would order a set from Mag-Hytec. They are stainless steel so you wont have any rust issues. They are only $15.00 for the set.

Bolt Kit [Bolt Kits] - $15.00 : Mag-Hytec

Thanks, carmanea!

Furian those seem like a good deal but they don't list how long they are. Are the Mag covers the same thickness as the 08s?

I think I'll prolly just get some from Home Depot.

Be sure and get stainless or good corrosion resistant coated bolts. I ordered mine from Mcmaster-Carr, mcmaster.com They have anything you could need.

Just my luck. They only stock 1" and 1.5" lengths. Argh.

Who, Home Depot or McMaster? Cause I know McMaster has the right size. Home Depot really has crap for hardware.

Wow I'm an idiot. I just realised they are right down the road from me. Hopefully I can cancel the order and pick them up instead of paying for shipping....

You can either use Meg-Hytec's on-line form or you can call them to request the needed size. It's customer order specific...

I ordered cadmium plated washers and the ultra-corrosion resistant bolts (should have went stainless). You want 5/16" washers, but I know they offer multiple inner dimensions, not sure which ones I ordered.

So, dumb question: why stainless over the ultra-corrosion resistant?

Stainless doesn't have a coating that chips off. Also, the ones I got had such a thick coating it was hard to get the allen bit into the socket.

You went with the allen heads? I just got regular hex bolts. I was worried about stripping out the allen head.
