I think that I may have overlooked something during my turbo upgrade/rebuild. The wastegate gasket??? I feel pretty stupid to ask but I assume that there should be one between the houseing and the elbow???
Nope...at most, all you really need there is a thin layer of high temp silicone, or I have a high temp gasket affixing cement that I've also used there on my car and I believe I used it there on my truck too.
The surfaces were machined so they SHOULD fit together nice and seal up, but that's not always guaranteed. If it doesn't leak you should be fine.
I put it all togeather and no leeks that I can see. Runs awsome, how ever it does seem to run out of legs pretty quickly. I am only running 7psi and havn't touched the IP. Which would be best alittle more fuel or a few more psi of boost or both??
Are you seeing any black smoke?
Do you have a pyrometer and where is the thermocouple located?
If the thermocouple is pre-turbo, max EGT should be around 1100 degrees.
So that would tell you if you can give it any more fuel if you are not seeing black smoke.
went for a drive today etgs 1210 and some black smoke at times mostly low rpm labouring, I live in the mountains so 1200 is on a very long climb. So assume that I will have to leave it as is for now. Oh pyro is in the top crossover pipe on the left side.
