random stalling weird?

Great now its stalling. It has been doing it a few times over the last month. I'll becruising down the road no problem, I'll coast up to a light and it would die. no rough idle or anything just like you shut the key off. I would put it in park and she would fire right up. No problem for days. Now i went to park rhe truck and she just died in middle of street. This time she wouldnt start so i turned flashers on and noticed that i only had the passenger side flashing. still wouldnt crank.
Now i'm ready to call tow truck so I decide to check al lights and blinkers, everything worked but no start. Then turned flashers off and on then they both started working. Now truck started. From reading on here a lot of people have trouble with the dist or the pip. Would this mess up the flashers? Or possibly something else?

I had this with my 4.9 F150, also a 96, it made me crazy. I would start by going over all the basic stuff first. Filters, fuel pressure, check the wires, cap, plugs etc. Check the codes or have them checked. Check all the vaccuum lines. Another possibility is ignition trouble, the coil could be ng or the module in the distributer cutting out when heated up. Do a search, there's more info on this better than mine. I never got to the bottom of mine before I sold it to a mechanic who wanted my truck to rebuild it.

I really doubt the flasher problem would be related to the stalling problem,I can't offer any advice on the flashers. Have you pulled codes? When the pip sensor went on the fritz on my 95,the symptoms were similar to what your truck is doing, and there was a code in the computer saying the pip sensor was bad.

If it won't crank, it's not your tfi or anything sophisticated like that.

Check your batt cables -- especially the grounds. Also check your ignition wiring.

If you meant to say that it would crank, but not start, it could be a lot of things. The computer is powered theough an eeciv relay ( at least they used to be). If the relay is bad, or the wiring to it is flaky, it could suddenly cut out.

tfis tend to fail hot, and they do recover.

However, the flashers may be pointing to a flaky ground somewhere.

Hello, I would second you on checking all your grounds because if the ECM circuit is
not properly grounded that could cause all kinds of flakey problems like stalling,
Good Luck,
John
