This is more of a question But.............wouldn't turning off the GP's eliminate their ability to burn off collective carbon and possibly cause a problem in the future during removal??
I have a switch on mine and it works good I still use them 2 times a day once in the morning before work and once after work but if I am running around town shutting my truck off and starting it lots I leave them off It will not hurt anything as long as you use them once or twice a day it will also save on the battery life.
If you look at your GPR there is two small posts and two big ones the pcm turns on the plugs by grounding out one of the small wires (the one that is closest to the pass side fire wall) I cut that wire and spliced a length of wire to go inside the cab to a two prong switch then I ran another wire from the other side of the switch back to the GPR this will break the ground and stop power from going to your GP,S when open the wait to start light will still come on but you can see on the volt meter in the dash that they are off.
I have had this for a year now with no problems but as KAWA stated you will need to use them once or twice a day to keep them from carboning up
I did the same with a switch that Waljon did. Works great. But I still let the GPs stay on full time the first time I start it for the day. It makes sense to allow the GPs to burn off carbon deposits but I really don't think it's necessary to let them cycle every time if you're running errands. Does anybody know whether or not extended hiway cruising/towing allows carbon to build up on the GPs? Or does it help keep them clean?
Im subscribed to this post, because I also have the switch and almost NEVER use it, here in my country, so you make me think about the carbon formation or not activating the GPs or not.
