add a leaf question?

Hello all,
I have a question for anybody that will answer. I'm thinking about add a rear add a leaf. The problem that I'm having is that I found the leaf springs but they offer a a " long leaf, that has the center pin and the clamp" or the "short leaf". Does anybody know what the difference is? or the pro/cons. It's going on a 05 f250 4x4. I have a leveling kit and want to bring the back end up a little.
thanks

air bags mo better. Make sure the system uses firestone bags, though.

re-read and see where you want to raise. air bags better for adding load capacity on a when needed basis. probably do not want to use for raising the vehicle. Although we did just that for an old motorhome we had with sagging springs.

I just did this same thing about a month ago. I went with the long add-a-leaf vs the flat leaf or bigger lift block. Both the front and rear kits were from Procomp. The front replaces the whole spring pack in the front, but then I had the same problem you mentioned. Too low in the rear. A friend of mine who also has done this tried the block first and didn't like the results. Back end felt mushy and seemed to make the truck wander under hard aceleration while pulling. The flat spring is kind of useless because there already is one. What I found was the long spring goes in at the third leaf from the top. My kit came with two additional spring clamps for each side and reuses the factory front clamp. It basically recurves the rear spring pack. My truck rides level again and feels like it has more stability than with just the oem springs. The rear ride is no rougher than before either. The rear kit was only about 180 bucks so I thought it was pretty good bang for the buck. The only down side is that it took a while to install, since you have to take the rear leaf spring apart and put it back together.
